EMERGENCY RELIEF

Life situations happen to us all: illness, natural disasters or losing your job to name a few. This fund provides emergency monetary relief to families in desperate need. Some past examples of this fund in action include helping pay off medical bills after a work related injury, Hurricane Earl, Hurricane Eta, and Covid-19 relief efforts.

At certain intervals, Lighthouse Ministries carries out food drops for the more needy families in Santa Familia Village and Duck Run 2 Village.

Lighthouse volunteers painted the seminary in the Cayo District, fixed or replaced every screen window on the building, built a new screen door for the kitchen, built picnic tables for their outdoor eating area, replaced about 50 panels for their zinc roof, donated painting supplies, tools, a pressure washer, made new curtains for the rooms, and purchased 12 new mattresses. We also donated several computers to seminarians and to the seminary library. This past year, we put in a new road, due to the old road washing out.

SACRED HEART CHURCH, SAN IGNACIO

During the COVID-19 pandemic, Lighthouse Ministries paid staff salaries, internet fees, water/sewer bills, and electrical bills for Sacred Heart in order to keep the church solvent. This lasted over a year. Because the Church did not have the following items, Lighthouse purchased iPads, DVD players, and liturgical items for the priests and the church including two Roman Missals, two censers, two traveling Mass kits, and at least two aspergillums. We also donated a new battery powered speaker system to be used in churches that have no sound systems.

Lighthouse Ministries has replaced almost all of the ceiling fans in the church after the temperatures were reaching dangerously high levels.

CHRISTMAS DINNERS
For the past few years, Lighthouse Ministries has provided a complete Christmas dinner for families in need in the Cayo District in Belize.
